Help us raise the final $5.3 million by 24 December to purchase and protect Wooroora

It’s here: our most ambitious acquisition yet. One hundred kilometres south-west of Cairns, on Jirrbal Country, lies Wooroora. 20,333 hectares of rainforest, wet sclerophyll forest and savanna woodland – and it's nearly 98% intact. And for the first time, we have the chance to protect it.

Here, cassowary country meets koala country. Emus pace through open woodlands. An endangered Red Goshawk might circle above. And crystal-clear creeks and streams, high in the Herbert River catchment, begin their journey to the Great Barrier Reef.

The edge of the Wet Tropics is important habitat, underrepresented in the National Parks system and exactly what we need to protect.

Thanks to our incredible community of supporters, we're closing in. Your gift can help raise the final $5.3 million by 24 December to purchase and protect Wooroora, our most ambitious acquisition yet.

Every gift brings us closer.

Right now, thanks to a group of generous supporters, your gift will be doubled up to $2.245 million. Donate by 24 December to help raise the final $5.3 million.

Wooroora also sits right beside our Yourka Reserve, a rare opportunity for landscape-scale connection. Remove a single fence line and we could create one continuous stretch of protected Country through to Koombooloomba and Tully Falls national parks. That's a nature corridor of 429,000 hectares – an area nearly twice the size of the ACT.

Across Queensland, forests and bushland continue to be cleared, fragmenting habitats and putting pressure on wildlife and waterways.

But while so many of Australia's natural places have shrunk, our protected area footprint has grown – because people like you have continued to believe that we can make a difference.

Will you help make this rare opportunity a reality?

Please donate today to help protect Wooroora and our other landscapes like it.

Warmest wishes,
